Natural Deodorant That Actually Works

When I first wrote a review about Primal Pit Paste back in November I had just bought my first jar of pit paste in lavender. I fell in love with it the first time I wore it but my husband, James, was super skeptical and did not like the texture of the paste. He was skeptical because all the other "natural" deodorants do not work and their claims to be non-toxic are usually completely false. I finally got him the stick version just a few weeks ago mostly because I needed to persuade him to try it again. Since then he has graduated from his salt stick to Primal Pit Paste. He even asked me to order him more! Wow, a huge change of heart.

Now it is time to get real personal. I sweat all day, every day, even my shins sweat. Too much information, I know. I am sure there is some scientific name for sweating profusely. Maybe because I am detoxing or maybe because I am just hot blooded after having babies, whatever the reason, it is not attractive to walk around with sweaty pits plus its really uncomfortable to have wet armpits all day. At the end of the day, the smell can be damaging too if left unattended.

I was explaining my sweating situation to my husband, James, and how the wetness was greatly reduced since wearing Primal Pit Paste. He was concerned it wasn't allowing my body to detox. Well, these products are not an antiperspirant. They help keep you dry by using arrowroot flour which still allows your body to release toxins. Speaking of James, he works at a construction site all day long sweating just as much as I do. His physical activity level is always off the charts even when not at work. He was using salt sticks and alcohol but they never really worked. By the end of the day he had a distinct odor to him.

The reason I told you all of this is because we have wonderful news... we finally found a true non-toxic, all-natural, organic deodorant that actually WORKS for both of us! It works all day long too.

We love Primal Pit Paste because it is:
  • hand-crafted
  • organic
  • all-natural
  • aluminum-free
  • paraben-free
  • non-toxic
  • fragrance-free
  • corn-free
  • gluten-free
  • GMO-free

Great for Kids and Teens

Not only is this product wonderful for adults but it is great for kids and teens too. All the conventional deodorants and some of the "natural" ones have tons of chemicals and toxins which leach into your blood through your skin. I do not want to get into the reasoning why conventional deodorant is so bad but you can check out a post over on The Healthy Home Economist site titled 10 Reasons Why Store Deodorant Stinks or the Top 5 Ingredients to Avoid in Deodorant post over on Natural News.

As my kids experiment with body products I definitely do not want them exposed to toxic chemicals. I let them take their own stick in Orange Creamsicle and apply as much as they want. They love Primal Pit Paste and have even taste tested it (probably because it smells delicious). This is another reason I love these products, if they are slipped into the mouth by accident there is no need to freak out.

Ingredients: Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Arrowroot Powder, Aluminum-Free Baking Soda, and Essential Oils

The Stick

The Primal Pit Paste Stick is available in regular strength. Our favorite scent in the stick is Primal Spice but wish it came in patchouli too. Thyme & Lemongrass has a strong, distinct scent while lavendar is very light and even relaxing. I like having a variety of scents so I can put on whatever I am feeling like that day. The stick is super easy, you just roll on like conventional deodorant.

Ingredients: Organic Coconut Oil (anti-microbial), Organic Shea Butter, Organic Arrowroot Powder (helps you to feel dry), Organic Beeswax, Aluminum-Free Baking Soda (kills bacteria), and Essential Oils

The Paste

The Primal Pit Paste Jar is available in kids, light, regular, and strong. Everyone has unique body chemistry so they recommend trying the regular first to acclimate the pH of the baking soda. The strong strength has more baking soda. If you have any reactions you can try to spray some apple cider vinegar on your pits before applying. Our favorite scent in the jar is patchouli. James really does not like the paste so I get to use it all by myself! It is recommended to use a pea size amount for each armpit. All I do is apply it, then rub it in with my fingertips.

Ingredients: Organic Coconut Oil (anti-microbial), Organic Shea Butter, Organic Arrowroot Powder (keeps you dry), Aluminum-Free Baking Soda (kills bacteria), and Essential Oils

Other Primal Products

Primal Pit Paste also has other products. I have not tried their herbal body powder yet but just tried their natural lip balm in Orange Creamsicle. It smells like summer and I have to fight back from licking it. It smells like you just licked a creamsicle. The balm also healed some cracks I had on my lips so I know it works too. I definitely found my go-to lip balm!

  • Po Po Powder - herbal body powder (organic arrowroot flour, baking soda, kaolin clay, magnesium, organic cocoa butter)
  • Pucker Paste - natural lip balm (organic coconut oil, organic shea butter, organic beeswax, essential oils)
  • Body Whip - body moisturizer (organic refined shea butter, organic coconut oil, organic olive oil, essential oils)

  18. I just ordered two samples sizes last night! Now, having just read your review, I might regret choosing the thyme and lemongrass. I also chose the kids' orange creamsicle. I'd probably like the lavender but can't wear it to my chiropractor due to a severe allergy in their office.
